Ireland Appoints First National Lottery Regulator

The appointment of Liam Sloyan as Ireland’s first Regulator of the National Lottery was announced by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin and is to become effective as of November 17, 2014.

Sloyan is the current chief executive and registrar of the Health Insurance Authority where he has been a critical factor in the development of the regulatory infrastructure of the Irish health insurance market.

He will be responsible for maintaining the protection and sustainability of the National Lottery.

Minister Howlin said, “I am confident that Mr. Sloyan’s appointment, together with the award of the new National Lottery Licence to Premier Lotteries Ireland Limited, will ensure that the National Lottery continues to enjoy public support and to benefit many good causes in the years ahead.”
